New Keyboard Shortcuts!

There is now a button on the bottom status bar (for entries, worksheets, templates/sub-templates) that opens a modal with information on the notebook and table keyboard shortcuts that we have, including a few new shortcuts to improve table navigation. Here is the complete list of keyboard shortcuts: 


Notebook

  • Copy: ⌘ + C

  • Cut: ⌘ + X

  • Paste: ⌘ + V

  • Undo: ⌘ + Z

  • Redo: ⌘ + Shift + Z or ⌘ + Y

  • Bold: ⌘ + B

  • Italic: ⌘ + I

  • Underline: ⌘ + U

  • Strikethrough: ⌘ + Shift + X

  • Link:⌘ + K

  • Monospace: ⌘ + Shift + K

  • Symbol: ⌘ + ;

  • Superscript: ⌘ + .

  • Subscript: ⌘ + Shift + .

  • Insert section/day: ⌘ + \

  • Cycle header style: Ctrl +. `

  • Switch to next tab: ⌘ + Shift + 0

  • Switch to previous tab: ⌘ + Shift + 9

  • Show keyboard shortcuts: ⌘ + ?

Table

  • Navigate to the next cell (right): Tab

  • Navigate to the previous cell (left): Shift + Tab

  • Edit cell / (while editing) Move down: Enter

  • Finish edit and move up (while editing): Shift + Enter

  • Edit cell: F2

  • Cancel editing / Clear selection: Esc

  • Move selection in arrow direction: Arrow Keys

  • Extend selection in arrow direction: Shift + Arrow

  • Move to edge of data region: ⌘ + Arrow

  • Extend selection to edge of data region: ⌘ + Shift + Arrow

  • Select all cells ⌘ + A

  • Select current row: Shift + Space

  • Select current column: Ctrl + Space

  • Jump to start of row: Fn + Left Arrow

  • Jump to end of row: Fn + Right Arrow

  • Jump to top of column: Fn + Up Arrow

  • Jump to bottom of column: Fn + Down Arrow

  • Insert new row below: Shift + Enter

This is very handy. The buried lead here are the new shortcuts, namely the “Jump” shortcuts.

For me, I find jump to end/start to be particularly useful since horizontal scrolling is such an issue.

One small issue is that jump to start of row puts you in the first column (not scrollable on a registration table), but it does not scroll the rest of the table. This is not symmetric with jump to end of row that does fully scroll (I’m submitted this via a TAM already).
