Hi everyone! Benchling UX Design team is kicking off a project to improve how scientists search for and navigate to the things they need in the product — and we need your help.
Why now?
We've heard from users that search and navigation can be harder than it should be. At the same time, we're building new features that need room to fit naturally into the product. Both point to the same need: a better foundation for finding your way around Benchling.
What we're doing
We're designing and testing new concepts for search and navigation, and we need to validate them with real Benchling users before we build. That means talking to scientists about how you currently navigate the product, and getting their reactions to early ideas.
Why your input matters
This isn't a small tweak — it's a foundational change that will affect how everyone works in Benchling day to day. We want to get it right, and the only way to do that is by testing with a wide range of real users and workflows. Feedback from this research directly shapes the design decisions we make.
What are you getting into when you participate?
1:1 Remote Sessions: These will be 1:1 sessions over video chat with either a Benchling User Researcher or Designer. We’ll have a few questions about how you use the product, what works for you, what doesn’t, and what drives you bonkers. Then we’ll share 1-3 concept prototypes for you to explore and you let us know what you think of it. Is it better? Worse? The same, but just different? And why?
Onsite group: If there are lots of team members that want to participate, we can also arrange an onsite visit to share many concepts at once. If you have an angry mob at your company that has opinions about search and navigation, this might be the option for you. We’ll bring the 🍔🍕, you bring the opinions.
Are you in?
We're aiming for 1-3 scientists from each customer, depending on the size of your organization. This will help make sure the solution works across different teams and use cases.
If you're interested, let us know below (or reach out to your CX contact) and we'll follow up with scheduling details.
Thanks for your partnership in helping us build something better for all of us 🙏
