Multi-Image Viewing now allows multiple images to be uploaded and viewed side by side within notebook entries and documents!

Today, images stack vertically, making visual comparison difficult on limited screen space. This slows down interpretation of image-based data such as assay results or before-and-after comparisons.

Scientists can now upload or drag-and-drop multiple images within a single entry and view them next to each other to support easier visual inspection and explanation. See a 50 second demo below!

I have tried this and I think its a great start.  I like the ability to be able to resize and drag images to rearrange their position in the panel. One thing I noticed is that if I shrink the image too small, the text/filename gets cropped or wrapped and is no longer visible. I consider the text/filename field to be similar to an image caption - so that should stay fixed regardless of the resizing of the image.

I agree with @JasonDG  -- the text / name we use as a caption -- but maybe the solution is to have a proper captioning setting  in the ‘layout manager’ for these grouped images.  could be 1 per picture or 1 per group etc, and always under a photo or always on the “edge” boundary etc.  What users really want is a way to drag stuff into a ‘canvas’ that is essentially mini powerpoint slide that you can put in the things you want (arrows, text boxes, etc) to make a gridded view of images, or a flowchart, or whatever else you may diagram or need visuals for :)
